Continuation of consideration of the following bill:

Bill 5, An Act to enact the Special Economic Zones Act, 2025, to amend the Endangered Species Act, 2007 and to replace it with the Species Conservation Act, 2025, and to amend various Acts and revoke various regulations in relation to development and to procurement / Projet de loi 5, Loi édictant la Loi de 2025 sur les zones économiques spéciales, modifiant la Loi de 2007 sur les espèces en voie de disparition et la remplaçant par la Loi de 2025 sur la conservation des espèces, puis modifiant diverses lois et abrogeant divers règlements en ce qui concerne le développement et l’approvisionnement.

Mr. Sol Mamakwa: Meegwetch, Chair. I’m just wondering: I know we’re going through these amendments. I guess some people are watching, and the question is if these amendments are available online.

Mr. Sol Mamakwa: My question is, are the motions or the amendments online anywhere?

The files are just really big, and we don’t have anywhere on the website that just hosts all of these documents.

The Chair (Mr. Aris Babikian): And also you have to consider that these amendments, the overwhelming majority, came very late last night and today, so the staff and the Clerk had hardly enough time to prepare these documents for the committee hearing.

Mr. Adil Shamji: Yes, sir. I believe MPP Mamakwa brings up an excellent point. Since there are parties who are watching and wondering what we’re voting for, and we’re not able to upload it on the site, perhaps it may be beneficial for us just to read out every motion.

MPP Chris Scott: Point of order, Chair: Since we’ve finally got an adult in the room on the Liberal side, can we revisit that discussion around this being exactly the same motion and ask for unanimous consent to bundle the rest of section 49 of schedule 2 so that we can actually move on to a focused debate?

The Chair (Mr. Aris Babikian): We cannot bundle them together during the clause-by-clause examination of the amendments. We—

MPP Chris Scott: Unless we have unanimous consent, right, Chair?

The Chair (Mr. Aris Babikian): Because each amendment is a different amendment.

MPP Chris Scott: How are they different? They’re different by one day.

The Chair (Mr. Aris Babikian): Because when you look at the bottom line, you have a number listed. For example, on this bill it says, “2,190 days after.”

MPP Chris Scott: What did the last one say?

The Chair (Mr. Aris Babikian): And the next bill, it’s “2,192 days.” So that’s why each one of them is different, so we cannot bundle them.

MPP Chris Scott: Right. Thanks, Chair.

The Chair (Mr. Aris Babikian): Okay, thank you.
