Election of Chair

Ms. Natalie Pierre: I move that MPP Brian Riddell be appointed as Chair of the committee.

Mr. Brian Riddell: Yes, I do.

Appointment of Vice-Chairs

The Chair (Mr. Brian Riddell): Good morning, everyone, and thank you for electing me as Chair.

Standing order 119(e) states: “Where the Chair of a standing committee is a member of the party forming the government, the First Vice-Chair shall be a member of the official opposition and the Second Vice-Chair shall be a member of a recognized party in opposition to the government other than the official opposition....”

With that, it is my duty to call upon you to appoint a First Vice-Chair. Is there a motion? I recognize MPP Lennox.

MPP Robin Lennox: I’d like to nominate MPP Gélinas.

Appointment of subcommittee

The Chair (Mr. Brian Riddell): The next item on the agenda is the appointment of a subcommittee on committee business. Is there a motion? I recognize MPP Pierre.

Ms. Natalie Pierre: I move that the subcommittee on committee business be appointed to meet from time to time, at the call of the Chair, or at the request of any member thereof, to consider and report to the committee on the business of the committee;

That the presence of all members of the subcommittee is necessary to constitute a meeting; and

That the subcommittee be composed of the following members: the Chair as Chair, MPP Anthony Leardi, MPP France Gélinas and MPP Andrea Hazell; and

That substitution be permitted on the subcommittee.

The Chair (Mr. Brian Riddell): A motion has been moved by MPP Pierre. Is there any debate?

I recognize MPP—and I’m going to pronounce your name wrong, as I’ve done for years—Gélinas.

M^me France Gélinas: Think of Angelina Jolie. I’m the middle of this—“Gélinas.” And I have nothing else in common with her.
